Automatic login for Mac mini server

I'm using a 2018 Mac mini as a mail and file server. I have "Start up automatically after a power failure" enabled in System Preferences>Energy Saver. But if it doesn't login automatically, the "start up automatically" doesn't even matter. To make this work I need to go to System Preferences>Users & Groups and turn on Automatic login. But in order to do that, I need to disable File Vault, which I'd prefer not to do.

Can someone tell me the best practices for having a file/mail server Mac and have it restart automatically after a power outage? Is it just to disable File Vault?

Mac mini 2018 or later

Yes, it looks like you'll need to disable Filevault. Keep in mind if there is sensitive private information stored by the machine, this may be against your company security policy.

Filevault prevents easy physical access to drives as long as the password security policy is bulletproof.

This means 16 or more characters, mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and funny characters, and no dictionary word in any language.

Put them in an encrypted disk image made with the Disk Utility.
