Transfer from water damaged iPhone

Recently my iPhone 12 Pro Max fell in a river and now has water damage…rice didn’t work so I ordered a new iPhone 12 Pro Max.


the iPhone one cycles off then on every two to three minutes making it impossible so far to transfer my data to the new iPhone.


has anyone encountered this and have a good solve?

You can't back up a damaged phone. So, trying to do that now isn't going to yield anything.


Once you get your new phone, in the setup process, you will be given the option to restore from an iCloud backup IF and only IF you used iCloud to back up the damaged phone. If you didn't ever back it up, you can certainly redownload all the apps you downloaded as long as you set up the new phone using the same Apple ID as you've used on the current phone. In addition, if you synced Photos, Messages, Notes, ect., on your current phone, you can turn those services on on the new phone, and they will download to your new phone.

If you've been backing up your phone, you can restore that data from backup to your new phone. If you haven't backed up the data to either iCloud or iTunes on your now damaged phone, it's too late to worry about the data on it.
