Photos disappeared

I plugged my phone in to charge about 30 minutes ago, I went over and looked at it and noticed it was just showing the blank white screen with the apple logo, as if an update. I wasn’t sure what was going on though so I shut the phone down by pressing the on/off button and bottom volume button. My phone shut down and turned back on again. After using it for about 20 minutes, I decided to open my camera roll and I noticed all my photos have disappeared, I am now only left with 22 photos. How can I get my photos back?!
