I clicked on a link after a google search and the website I was taken to was clearly redirected from the original website because I was taken to some site with porn ads and it was called mouthp*rn or something along those lines. What does this mean? Do I have a virus? How would I go about checking. (I have a macbook air and I was using google chrome)

It is free or paid for added features. Run the Application and it should remove the malware / adware. Once done, restart computer and test.
Also, check your Browser for unknown extensions and remove if found.
There are no known Viruses in the wild that self replicate and affect macOS. There are Malware and Adware that does affect macOS and are often times downloaded as part of an Application from Third Party UnTrusted Site and get installed along with the Application.

Should be fine. Just never download and install anything from untrusted developers
Thank you! I downloaded Malwarebytes and scanned and it came up empty (no adware) and i checked my browser and there were no unknown extensions. This was the first time it ever happened. Is there anything else I should do or should I be ok?
