MBP / MacOS 11.4 / Reset SMC every day due to screen flicker

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)

2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 / 8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 / Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB

MacOS 11.4, automatic update.


  • Every 15 seconds display (built-in/external LG27-850) flicker, result, not possible to change file names in Finder, Safari search field stop, Word/Excel issues.
  • Run Apple SMC reset instructions and flicker stops.
  • Close down all apps
  • Shut down MBP using Shutdown
  • Display (both are dark)
  • Lid open
  • Touch any keyboard key and MBP goes start, without having pressed Start.
  • No flicker.
  • Next day at start up, flicker again.
  • Battery shows 100% charged
  • External connections during Shutdown - Power supply (Apple), external Display 27LG850, Apple Keyboard)


Any guidance is appreciared,
