apple id verification

My daughter dropped her phone in water so its dead, Im trying to activate an older phone with her sim card but it says for the apple id its sending an authentifiaction code to her phone, which is dead. Can I bypass this? Or log into her account on a computer and change were the code is sent to? Her phone has not been backed up to a computer
