Lock screen on swiping up

MacBook Pro (2015) - Using trackpad. Since upgrading to Big Sur, swiping up causes the lock screen to appear, and I need to type my password to go back to where I was.

I find this behaviour extremely annoying. Is there a way to change trackpad behaviour (gestures??)?

Are you sure it’s swiping up that causes it? Could it be that you have a Hot Corner set up? Go to System Preferences->Mission Control and click on Hot Corners. What do you see?

If hot corners are not the problem, test to see if the same thing happens in a new user account.
