rmdir will not work if there are files in the folder.

rm -rf /Users/Nous/"Bureau / iMacIntel"

Should work.

Actually, the slash is not allowed in the POSIX paths, and Finde will probably replace it under the hood with ":", so I would expect the above command will not work. That is why I recommended dragging the folder from the Finder to Terminal instead; the Finder should do the appropriate conversion of the file name.

Here is the Terminal result:

iMacIntel:~ Nous$ cd/Users/Nous/Bureau \:\ iMacIntel

-bash: cd/Users/Nous/Bureau : iMacIntel: No such file or directory

iMacIntel:~ Nous$ /bin/ls -dleO@ .

You have to be careful when you type something in Terminal.

cd

is the name of a command.

You have to separate it from its arguments.

It is not cd/Users....

It is cd /Users... NOTE the SPACE between cd and /

You mistyped the file name as well.

To avoid that, do NOT type these long file names manually. Instead, type just the command and a space:

cd

WITH a SPACE after the letters cd; do NOT press enter;

Then DRAG the folder to Terminal, and FINALLY press enter.

Thanks.

The missing space is my error when dragging the folder from the Finder. Just misplaced it.

As for the folder name, it was created automatically when dragging it to the Termial window. So, the typos are not mine.

I did it again, adding the second command ... and this is the new result:

iMacIntel:~ Nous$ cd /Users/Nous/Bureau \:\ iMacIntel

iMacIntel:Bureau : iMacIntel Nous$ /bin/ls   -dleO@   .

drwx------@ 33 Nous  staff  sunlnk 1056 19 jul 14:56 .

	com.apple.macl 288

 0: group:everyone deny delete

iMacIntel:Bureau : iMacIntel Nous$

The problem has always been an authorization problem. See the folder's info window below. Modifying the authorizations returns an error message telling me that I don't have the authorization to do that ... and I have an admin level.

Hello Luis,

The Desktop folder you see, is an alias created by Dropbox when initiating the backup of some folders of my drive, in this case, the Documents and the Desktop folder. Those name are not modifiable. The original of those folders have been moved by Dropbox to the Dropbox folder nested somewhere on my drive.

As for the typo in the Terminal command, as I told, they have been automatically generated when dragging and dropping the Bureau / iMacIntel folder to the Terminal window. May I recall, that that folder was also created automatically when I initiated an iCloud backup the first time. I didn't understand all the consequences of the iCloud backup and later decided not to use that feature because I didn't understand all what is was doing.

Do you think that typing the command in the Terminal window could have a better result ?

Thanks for helping.

Something still does not add up.

Are you using some form of file server to access remote files? I am puzzled by a few things.

First:

If you were to drag the folder, as you say you did, after the cd command, it should have looked like this:

iMacIntel:~ Nous$ cd /Users/Nous/Bureau\ :\ iMacIntel

instead of

iMacIntel:~ Nous$ cd /Users/Nous/Bureau \:\ iMacIntel

There should be a backslash character BEFORE the space and immediately after the word "Bureau". You have the backslash AFTER the space.

You ended up in the right folder, anyway, which is weird. The unescaped space ought to have been read as a separator.
