Application: "Voice Memos"
Question: can one change the default file for new audio files created?
Current behavior is to default to the user's location as listed in Contacts, and the file name also contains a space - always less than ideal on macOS.

We understand you are inquiring about preferences for intended behavior of the title for voice memo files. You mention Mac and iOS, so we'll cover both.
On Mac with Voice Memos open, you can open the menu Voice Memos > Preferences and uncheck 'Location-Based Naming'. This will default to a more generic title, which you can then change by clicking on the title to edit.
On iOS, you can also disable this same feature. This is found in Settings > Voice Memos > Location-based Naming. To rename the recording, simply tap on the name of the recording from the All Recordings page, and your keyboard will appear to allow you to title the recording.
