Is the WatchOS7.5 update just more Apple forced obsolescence?

My Apple Watch OS7.5 update has paused with a prompt Saying I can resume updating when I’m connected to Wi-Fi, but I’ve been connected to Wi-Fi the entire time. Has this update rendered my watch useless much like every other Apple update I have installed
