Can alarm volume under your alarm be controlled separately or locked?

My last phone was an android They were different controls for different volumes.

On my new iPhone 12 if I turn the volume down it also turns the alarm volume down

Alarm Why is the alarm tied to the volume? The point of the recurring alarm is so you don’t have to check it every night. If I lower my phone’s volume, it changes the alarm volume. The alarm should have its own setting. I think it did with the X, I never had a problem until the 11. If you know how to fix this please let me know or Apple please send a fix for this issue.

iOS: how to change the alarm volume using the volume buttons when the option to do so is enabled Just what the thread title says. The option to adjust ringer and alarm volume using the volume buttons is enabled, but when I use the volume buttons, it is adjusting a volume OTHER THAN the ringer or alarm volume and I see no other controls for adjusting the alarm volume. I missed an alarm this morning because the volume was set to about 5% even though I used the volume buttons to jack the volume setting that the volume buttons were controlling to the max. I have no idea what the OTHER volume setting, is and I am relatively confident I don't want to ever adjust it ever again in the remainder of my life. All I can say is that the ringer volume has a horizontal volume bar but the other mystery volume setting has a vertical volume bar. I want to adjust the ringer and alarm volume using the volume buttons and honestly I have no idea how iOS could possibly have turned this simple task into a research project, but that does seem to be par for the course with Apple products

The only way to control the alarm volume separately is to use a third party app that supports it eg Digital Clock

I use this one however the alarm only works as a clock alarm while the app is running on my night table, unlike the regular alarm which works in the background

I set it to barely audible so that SWMBO isn’t disturbed.
