Trying to connect new watch to phone. Keeps telling me to update and phone says updates are current. ios 12.5.4

unable to update Apple Watch So the question is quite long to explain. I own an iPhone 7 which still runs amazingly well and we all know iOS 16 is not given for iPhone 7 so im still on iOS 15 I own Apple Watch 6 and it is currently on watchOS 8.7. when I try to go to the software update page it shows need to update phone first to update the watch any methods or workaround to update my watchOS considering it is paired to my iPhone 7. any leads or help would be much appreciate. take care.!

Cannot update watch because phone won’t update I cannot update my watch until I update my phone. However, my phone won’t update to iOS 17. How can I update my watch?

If your watch is running WatchOS 6 or 7 then you need a phone with at least ios13 for watchos6 and ios14 for watchos7.Which means you need an iphone 6s or higher.
