How can i get this to work. Their both connected to the same wifi.

how can I connect to my apple tv without remote? I have travelled with my apple tv but I forgot the remote and my apply tv device is not pairing with my home app. How can I change the wifi for my device to connect it to the same wifi as my phone?
My apple tv remote on my phone wont connect to my apple tv, it says its trying to connect but fails to do so. This has been a problem for about 2 months. Ive tried to disconnect and reconnect it but it still doesnt work.
