Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you're wanting some assistance with using a passcode with Apple Pay and we'd be happy to provide you with some more information. To use Apple Pay on your device, you're required to have a passcode set up on your device. This passcode is the same one that is used to unlock your device and is also requested when using Apple Pay. There is not currently a way to set up a separate passcode to use specifically for Apple Pay.
Additionally, you can also enroll in Touch ID or Face ID and use one of those verification methods when making a payment using Apple Pay. You can read more about Apple Pay security at the link below.
