Can’t sign into iTunes on Apple TV HD

I got an Apple TV HD and it won’t allow me to sign in with my Apple ID. The credentials are correct, but it won’t accept the sign in and prompts me that I need to enter a verification code. I get a notification to my phone that says a device at my location is attempting to sign in. I press allow and it generates a code, but the Apple TV never shows a page where I can enter that code and instead brings me back to the username and password pages. It then repeats the same thing over and over again.

Couldn’t fix it by restarting the device and cannot turn off Two-Factor authentication because for some reason my ID won’t allow it. This device is pretty much useless at this point. How do I fix it?

Apple TV HD, tvOS 14

Hey BoomenJake,

We'll be happy to help out with the Apple TV and the trouble you're having signing into it.

You mentioned that the password is correct, but just to confirm, are you able to sign in here Manage your Apple ID - Apple? This will rule out any issues being with the account. If you're not able to log in, follow the prompts to reset your password.

If you're able to sign in without an issue, then follow the steps under "What if I use two-factor authentication on a device running older software?" here: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support

If you're still having trouble, Contact Apple Support directly for further investigation.

Take care.
