Ringtone setup using 'Garageband'

I hope somebody can help me. I am following a video that shows (step by step) how to create a custom ring-tone for my iPhone. I know which section of the 'song' I want (already on iTunes).

However, I'm stuck at the point where it tells you to drag the song wanted to a window which then shows sound bite. When I go to play it - it doesn't play the entire song; it cuts off after about 8 bars of music.

The section I want is after where it cuts off, so I can't edit or cut it to the desired sound. Why isn't it playing the entire song? How do I get it to play more of the song so that I can work with it??? to get the ringtone I want.

It's my first time using 'garageband' and so I'm not very familiar with it; but I just want to get past this roadblock - for now.

Anybody?

Thank you.

What I'm trying to do is 'create a ringtone' from a track I have on iTunes. I thought I'd try 'garageband' for starters. I got as far as dragging the track to the window in 'Garageband'. When I play it, it plays the 1st 30 seconds of the song! When the ringtone that I want is about 45 seconds into the song.

Using Garageband; is there anyway to drag or lengthen the track so then I can create the ringtone? It's more about using 'Garageband' than it is about 'Apple'!
