You can Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

While there may be a need for hardware repair, should the correct resets not work..

Use startup options with Apple M1 silicon, to supersede 'Intel-mac' SMC, NVRAM.

If you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, the startup options window appears when you turn on your Mac, then

continue to press and hold its power button for at least 10 seconds.

Here's what you can do in startup options:

  • Select a startup disk, such as Macintosh HD. Then click Continue to start up from that disk.
  • Select Options, then click Continue to open macOS Recovery. From there you can reinstall macOS, use Disk Utility to repair your disk or erase your disk, and more.
  • Click Shut Down or Restart.

These hidden features are also available in startup options:

  • Select a startup disk, such as Macintosh HD, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.” Learn about Safe mode.
  • Press Command (⌘)-D to open Apple Diagnostics.

Run the Diagnostic is easy enough to do, and may or may not kick out an error code. I will say it is not as definitive as Apples own backbench diagnostic called AST (Apple Service Toolkit) if you were to take it in.

Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac

To be clear your M1 Mac has no T2 controller chip

You can not reset the SMC, because the M1 Mac doesn’t have a System Management Controller. You can not manually reset the NVRAM / PRAM because your Mac does this automatically, if needed, during every startup or reboot.

Apple has integrated everything in the new chip, including technologies like a neural processor (NPU) and memory in one single package. This is how Apple managed to increase processing power and maximize energy efficiency

M1 SoC - SMC reset equivalent is  Shut down, close the lid 30 secs+ , reboot as normal

-------

Reset SMC and your NVRAM Thrice:

Sometimes, changes (i.e. Update Installations) are made, and then settings (i.e. For Ports) become manipulated, technically. So, reset both. Note that this may take three tries just to reset them successfully. It may take some time to perform this. So, be certain you have the time to do so.
