Turn off HDMI CEC on Apple TV (2021)

Hi.

I'm having real trouble with my new AppleTV (ATV) and my Samsung TV regarding the HDMI CEC, ARC, Anynet+ or whatever you want to call it. My whole mission is to only let my TV remote use the soundbar for changing volume. I had the same problem when I bought PS5, but the PS5 let me turn off HDMI CEC so it wouldn't interfere with the soundbar anymore.

I want to disable the HDMI CEC on the ATV completely, but it won't let me. The only info Apple gives is that you can turn "off" the option to let the Apple remote change the volume, but my experience is that the ATV still uses the CEC function.

Why is this annyoing? Well, because when I go back to the TV tuner HDMI spot the ATV has blocked my tuner using the soundbar. So I have to configure the Anynet+ settings again to let my TV remote change the soundbar volume. This is getting so annyoing I'm considering getting rid of the ATV alltogether. I spoke with Apple support on the phone and the guy didn't even know what HDMI CEC was. He promised me the tech department would look at it and send me an e-mail. This was 5 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything.

Can anyone please tell me how to disable HDMI CEC on the ATV? It's not Settings -> Remotes and devices -> Control TVs and recievers. Well, it says it is but it isn't. I know that because when I turn it "off" my TV still finds the ATV in the Anynet+ config list.

It's so frustrating! Can anyone help?

It's not Settings -> Remotes and devices -> Control TVs and recievers. Well, it says it is but it isn't.

That is it though, and there is no other setting on the Apple TV box that regulates it.

Apple TV can’t help what your TV is able to find or remember. That doesn’t mean that CEC is on for Apple TV.

Verify that ‘TV speakers’ (=audio over HDMI) is selected as audio output.

If your soundbar is selected as (wireless) audio output anywhere, then the Apple TV is the one that will control its volume, unrelated to CEC.

Thing is.. this wasn't an issue before I bought the ATV. As I mentioned I had the same problem after hooking up the PS5. It also appeared in the Anynet+ config list and messed with the soundbar. Finally I found out that the PS5 has HDMI CEC option default as "on". I was able to turn it "off" in the PS5 settings and the problem was solved.

The ATV however.. I turn it off in the settings, but the Anynet+ still says it's on and lets the ATV overrule everything else. It's obvious that HDMI CEC isn't turned off. I've been troubleshooting for weeks. Resetting both the ATV, my TV, changed cables around the soundbar. Same result. I'm convinced the ATV has a hidden setting which has the HDMI CEC turned on at all times. The settings in the menu only lets you choose if you want to use the volume buttons or not.
