Hi I purchased a iPad from an police auction and it had connect to iTunes. I did that now it wants the old owners details to continue setting it up.

How can i reset my iPad i purchased from a police Auction. It is block with the old owners user name and password

return it and get a refund


the activation lock is not really on the ipad it's a

theft protection measure on apples servers


it needs to be removed

Recover Your Apple ID - Apple


if that does not help you then you need the assistance

of apple

The iPad is useless to you - or to anyone other than the original owner.


Here are the Apple support pages that outline the Activation Lock - and the only mechanisms by which it can be turned off:

As you will discover, unless you are the owner of the AppleID that was last used to activate the device, you’ll not be able to defeat or bypass the Activation Lock. With documentary evidence that you are the original owner (such as sales receipt showing the serial number), Apple may be prepared to assist - otherwise they and nobody here will be able to help you.
