Apple Pencil lightning connector pins (gold) getting corroded (darkened).

Some of the yellow bars on the lightning charger part of my Apple Pencil (gen 1) are getting darkened. I'm not sure what those are called but am worried this will affect charging speed. This seems like it's getting corroded.

Apparently something similar has happened with lightning cables and Apple has issued replacements.

Is this a common issue with the pencil? Will this end up in the complete unusability of the pencil?

Hello akash9702,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities!

We see that some of your Apple Pencil lightning connector pins are discolored.

We’d be happy to help you!

As long as the pencil is still charging, the connector should not have a problem if it is slightly discolored.

We’d recommend cleaning the Pencil through the steps in How to clean your Apple products.

Take care.
