A contact that I text frequently, all of a sudden their name is showing in red and I am unable to text them from my ipad. I have text forwarding on in my iphone. I don't understand why would this just happen. Any suggestions?

iPad, iPadOS 14

Thanks for the input. I have checked text message forwarding on my phone and it indicates that it is set up to forward to my ipad. I have also shut off both devices and turned them back on and I also deleted the contact an re entered it. I am having a problem with 2 of my contacts and they both have android phones. The weird thing is that up until a week ago I had no problem texting either of them from my ipad.

I am able to message all contacts from my iphone. From my ipad I am not able to send or receive messages to/from any of my contacts that have an android. The most puzzling part of this is that up until a week ago I could send and receive messages from all my contacts on the ipad. I appreciate you trying to help me with this! Thank you!

Hi LeeSister,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand you're running into an issue with messages. We're happy to provide some information to help.

It looks like you may have already checked your text message forwarding settings, but if you didn't double check that your iPad is still showing as a device you can see how to do that here: How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac.

Are you only seeing this issue with one specific contact? If so, save the contact details and then delete and re-add that contact back to your iPad. See if this resolves the issue.

Thanks
