How to hide the side bar in Files app on iPad

I often markup pdf's and image documents (PNG, JPEG etc) in the "Files" app on my ipad using my apple pencil. It's amazing. I love it! However, there is a sidebar on the right side that shows little previews of the pages. In "Preview" on my mac this would be called "Thumbnails" and can be disabled. The palm of my hand hits this fairly often, and then the screen scrolls to somewhere totally insane and it's driving me nuts. Is there no way to disable this? What about if the user could just move it to the left hand side in my case (right handed) and to the right hand side for Ned Flanders?

You can't unfortunately.

That is part of the navigation for a document.

Sorry.
