MacOS 11.5 Update Causes Bootcamp Soundcard Driver to Fail

After 11.5 installation, the Mac start sound is no more. And CirrusLogic soundcard has no sound in bootcamp Windows 10. Tried uninstall driver but no avail.

Sound is normal in Mac though.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.5

RESOLVED

After hours and hours of trying I solved it, I personally carried out these operations:

- Total backup with Acronis (Windows side)

- Total backup with TimeMachine (Mac side)

- BootCamp partition cloning with Winclone (Mac side)

Deleted BootCamp partition via wizard, re-created (blank) partition and verified audio was working again.

At that point I went to check which were the default audio drivers and for mine:

(MBP 15 "with TouchBar mid-2017 Model A1707) are i

Cirrus Logic CS840999 (AB 57)

After I went back to the mac partition and through Winclone I restored the image created previously so I did not lose any data and found myself the same windows installation without having to reinstall everything.

So in the end I can tell you that for MBP mid-2017 Model A1707 the correct drivers are Cirrus Logic CS840999 (AB 57)

Available in NON COMPATIBLE drivers.

I hope I have helped you.

Hi, same problem here on two imac 27 2017 model and macbook pro 13 inch 2017 model.

Have you solved this problem? I found a way to minimize this impact but it's not pratical at all.

If you boot your mac os device in mac mode, log in and then start in windows mode, sound issues are gone. But you need to do this every time you boot you mac device.

Please can anyone help to solve this issue!!!

Thanks, Afonso

Hello Loner T,

SMC reset didn't solve the issue but NVRAM reset did solve it while doing several subsequent boots in windows. But the issue comes back since the first boot in macos. This is an annoying issue because i need to work in both operating systems...

The NVRAM reset only solves the sound issue if there's no more booting in macos!

Do you have another suggestion that can solve this issue?

Thank You
