Thank you for your follow up. Let's make sure you have tried all the steps in If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker. Was there anything specific you did or that changed before this started happening?

You could try force quitting messages and see if that helps.

You might want to try force restarting your iPhone. Learn how to Force restart iPhone here.

You definitely want to make sure you are running the latest version of software. Learn how to Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch here. You might want to turn the silent switch on and then off again, or vice versa.

Does this happen only with phone calls? Does the same thing happen with text messages or alerts like your alarm?
