Skipping first second of songs

Hi, I noticed the above mentioned issue lately, playing Apple Music through AirPlay1.

What I've done so far without positive results:

  • Restart - iPhone, router, streamer.
  • Disable Bluetooth and Siri.
  • Apple Music - Offload App, Delete App, Reinstall.
  • Album downloaded locally on the phone.

and more.

Here is an example:

https://music.apple.com/ro/album/sunset-in-the-blue-deluxe-version/1555674173

If you let the song 4 to play until the end, the next track will start without the first 2-3 seconds.

This issue will be reproduced to other tracks as well not limited to track 5 (you will see at track 6, 7 and so on).

My conclusion is that the tracks are fine (using the iPhone internal speaker will play fine). I guess that It's something related to the AirPlay.

More infos:

I am in the same room with the streamer/router the distances are no more than 2-3m away phone vs the device/router.

I am using iPhone7 with the latest OS 14.7, also latest Apple Music app.

If anyone noticed this and fix it, any advice will be much appreciated.

Thank you!

iPhone 7, iOS 14

Hey there, HiRez_!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you have an issue streaming music through AirPlay. Since the issue is not happening with the iPhone itself, let's start with the steps in this article If AirPlay or screen mirroring isn’t working on your device. Does this happen with all devices you AirPlay to or one device specifically? Is it only happening with the one album or multiple albums?

Let us know the results and have a terrific day!

Hello AppleJen77,

Thank you for your feed-back.

Indeed unfortunately, I experienced lately the skipping first seconds issue via AirPlay.

Sure, If AirPlay or screen mirroring isn’t working on your device - Done, but no improvements.

Regarding your questions, I've tested earlier AirPlay-ing to a Sony TV (with AirPlay add-on installed), the same story, so, thanks to you, we 've found that it looks like it's not about the streamer.

Also tested with other albums as well, again, the issue persist (some songs will start without the first 2-3 seconds if I let the album play from begin to the end).

Marcin Wasilewski Trio - Spark of life

Diana Krall - Quiet Nights

Talking with other users on another public forum, it was made a test AirPlay-ing this time from a Mac (MacOS 11.5) to the same model of streamer and everything was fine but in the same time, I receive the confirmation from the same user that using iOS 14.7, the issue was there like I experienced.

I also followed these guides Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

(just in case) thinking that may be a router issue but I am using this router to play music files via Chromecast and MusicCast as well without any issues.

I am not convinced that I am able to rollback the iOS 14.7 from iPhone7 to do more tests, without loosing the data/settings but if you guys have the possibility to do some tests with iOS 14.7 and after that an older version of iOS using the iPhone(7), it will be fine AirPlay-ing to some external devices it will be great as starting point to confirm (or not) the above described.

Maybe it's not that obvious because most of the people I suppose that are using earbuds these days - including myself a part of the day - and there is no need to buffer the stream but when it comes to AirPlay using an external device, it's pretty irritating ...

Could be the AirPlay wifi buffer implementation in the latest iOS 14.7 - would you please check this assumption?

If you need more details please don't hesitate!

Best regards,
