Macbook Air M1 one hand open not working - hinge seems to tight

Hi, recently the hinge for my macbook air has become much tighter than usual. The normal one hand open doesn't seem to work. It was working fine - then there was a week that I did not use my macbook at all and when I used the macbook the week after the problem occured. The stifness would occur when I first lift the lid (the entire laptop lifts up) and once I push down it happens once again at around 70 degrees. I was wondering whether this had anything to do with build up of dust? I contacted apple via the chat and I was told that it may be worth visiting a store and going to a Genius Bar.

Is this normal or would it be worth it going to a store.

Thanks in advance!

I would get it checked ASAP. To much force closing or opening could put stress on the display.
