Missing Kindle books after OS upgrade

I upgraded from a 2008 desktop running El Capitan to a 2017 desktop running Catalina 10.15.7. Most apps and files transferred with Migration Assistant, but not Kindle books, just one that I had left open. I can turn its pages and read it ok. The others are represented by black "shadows." They're not readable. Will Kindle books be in Time Machine? (In El Capitan I had iCloud turned off due to another issue.) Should I go into Time Machine and try to bring them forward, or would the 64 bit vs. 32 bit situation require some kind of special procedure? I have Kindle 1.30.0.

Hello Martin6469,

We'd love to assist you with locating your missing Kindle books. First, does it show in your purchased history from where you originally purchased them? If so, are you able to re-download them?

Best regards
