Car Battery Charger for iPhone-12

Hi all -

We just bought two iPhone-12s with the plug-in charger we were told we had to use. Then I've seen comments on line that we could plug into a computer's USB port. Is that true? If so, would a car's cigaret lighter-to USB converter also(?) work? Or would we have to use that plug-in charger before we leave on a trip and hope the battery lasts?
