Big Sur ; how to eject WD elements external hard drives ?

Hello all,

Is there a way to "simply" eject an external disk, like its possible in Mojave ?

in Big Sur, I have to shut all apps, then open disk utility,

and run SOS, then find the disk in Finder and clic the eject button.

These are a lot of things do to just eject an external drive !

What do you think ? thank you for telling me about your (good) experiences.

Here's how you can prevent Spotlight from indexing external drives and Time Machine backups. 1. Connect the volume or drive you want excluded to your Mac. 2. Open the System Preferences application. 3. Click on Spotlight, then click on the Privacy tab. 4. Drag your volume or drive into the Privacy menu to exclude them from Spotlight's indexing.

You said you dragged it to the trash, not clicked eject. What is it you are doing? What do you mean by SOS? First aid?

In any case, if there are write operations on going to the drive when you eject it, these will have to complete before the eject takes place to prevent data corruption. How long do you wait after clicking eject, before unplugging the drive? If you wait longer does the light stop flashing?
