why won't my ipod nano sync with itunes?

I recently purchased a new laptop. I downloaded Itunes and my purchased music. When I plug my Ipod Nano into my laptop it recognizes my ipod but won't sync. How do I fix the problem?

We noted you mentioned the laptop recognizes the iPod, are you seeing that show up in iTunes specifically, or does it only show up elsewhere? What seems to happen when you try syncing? For example, any error messages come up?
