my phone won't charge why is that?

There could be many factor behind your issue. The main would be checking the port and cleaning it if there is any dust or debris on it. Force restart your device and make sure it is up to date. Use different adapter or the cable to see if it works out for you. If nothing seems to work contact apple support.
