Is your model TV one of those models?
The Apple TV app and AirPlay support are two separate features. A TV can support one but not the other, or both, or neither.
For AirPlay functionality, add the TV as an accessory to the Home app on your iOS device, and assign it a room. Add a HomeKit accessory to the Home app - Apple Support
Activate AirPlay on the TV, as it might be turned off initially. Set Access settings, such as “users on the same network”, and optionally an AirPlay password.
