So far the directions I’ve seen to add a person to an existing text discussion say to select the discussion, click Info and scroll down to Add Contact. There is no Add Contact when I scroll down. I get Send Current Location and Share Location but there is no Add Contact.

If the group is a mix of android and iPhone, you cannot add or remove anyone. This is a limitation of MMS messaging, not an iPhone issue.
