How do I clean the metallic part of an apple keyboard?

I am cleaning an apple keyboard. I am using 99% isopropyl alcohol. I've managed to clean the keys very nicely, but, somehow the metallic part of the keyboard does not come clean. What can I do to clean it, and what should I use for it?
