How can I reset my iMac 2009 to the factory settings. It has OS X El Capitan installed. Is there a simple way to do this? Step by step instructions please.

The Early 2009 and Late 2009 iMac's original came with a gray 2 disc install set from the factory.
If you have the original disc set, then you can startup from disc 1 erase and reinstall the factory OS X.
If not, then you you will need to use macOS Recovery.
