Watching iTunes Moves I bought downloaded on iPad Pro (USB-C) on TV with NO Wifi

I would think this would be a simple question, but I am finding that it isn't. I have a lot of movies that I have bought from Apple and I would like to be able to download them to my iPad and play them on my camper TV when I don't have an internet connection. How do I do that without getting an error that tells me that "The connected display is not authorized to play protected movies"??? I can download movies from Netflix and Amazon Prime to my iPad and play them just fine. Why can't I play the movies that I've paid for? Please help. Thanks

Hi 42kid,

To make sure we'e on the same page, you have downloaded purhcases from the iTunes Store to your iPad and they play. However when attempting to stream them to a TV while disconnected from the internet, you receive an error, is that correct?

Do you receive the same error or a different error with the term "HDCP" included? If not and it works fine when connected to the internet, this is expected behavior. You can watch content offline on your Apple devices, but DRM protected content requires an internet connection to be streamed to a display.

If you do encounter this issue while connected to the internet and attempting to stream in the same manner, take a look at the tips below:

42kid,

Thanks for clarifying. Downloaded content purchased from the iTunes Store can be played on the device its downloaded to, however due to DRM protections it cannot be streamed or sent via an adapter to a different display without internet connectivity to verify the purchase.

We understand this is an inconvenience, and the best recourse here we can recommend would be to leave feedback.

Take care.

I apologize, I overlooked stating that I am using a USB-C to HDMI cable. I considered buying an Apple adaptor, but I am finding that it would not help in this situation. The cord works perfectly fine for mirroring my iPad to the TV, but when you try to play a downloaded iTunes Movie that I bought, I get that error. I don't see why I would not be allowed to play it from my iPad to a TV when I can do that using an Apple TV. I should not be required to have an internet connection. And again, it works using Netflix and Amazon Prime, so why would this be different. I actually paid more money specifically to play this particular movie from iTunes.
