Sony DSR-11 and Mac OS / Final Cut Pro versions

Hey everyone,

Old family DV's need to be fully digitalised.

Before buying one more capture card - and willing to reuse still functional devices - I would like to give life again, in my workflow, to my old but tough Sony DSR-11 which was a very good companion during years.

Do you know which Mac OS versions still support Sony DSR-11?

And what about Final Cut Pro version ?

Thank you!

As a little addition to what Tom said: with any recent mac, you are going to need adapters.

If your mac has Thunderbolt 3 (as does any mac since about 2016 - with the exception of the 12" MacBook):

Thunderbolt 3-Thunderbolt 2

then always

Thunderbolt 2-Firewire (unless you have a very old mac that still has Firewire - that would be circa 2011)

plus a cable with 9-pin Firewire on one end and the proper version to connect to your Sony device at the other end.

Thanks Luis for your answer.

I have the whole collection of adapters and may be more ;-)

I tried with a IEEE 1394 4 pin to USB 3.0 adapter but it didn't work :

https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B06XZ62JJR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I guess it's a special cable and not an universal one.

I gonna try with a true IEEE 1394 4 to 6 pin and Firewire adapter and so on to my USB-C.

Thanks again.

Thanks Tom for your answer. Yes they are very good and helpful machines.

I tried with a IEEE 1394 4 pin to USB 3.0 adapter but it didn't work as it doesn't appear in FCPX
