I'm getting "Software update is required to connect to your iOS device". Nothing is telling me what the required update is. What update is required? My iPhone is 14.7 and my Mac is 10.15.7.
iPhone 6s, iOS 12
It's an iTunes driver update. Install it from the dialog instead of going to the App Store.

Thank you for your reply, I do appreciate it. Yes, I have read that article, I pasted some of it into the body of my post. What I'm trying to determine is: what is the software update that is required. I'm asked to click Install with no information whatsoever regarding what the software update includes. I don't want to all of a sudden find out I'm upgrading to Big Sur and it's too late to stop it. Does anyone know how I can find out what the update I'm being asked to install exactly is?
Thanks for your reply. Yeah, it's Big Sur. Thats a no go. I was hoping it was a lesser update. This is how it happens, I had to do a software update on my phone to activate my apple card, now I can't connect my phone to my MAC. Frustrating. Thanks for your reply.
It's a communication patch to allow the Mac to talk to the iPhone. It's small and safe, it happens from time to time and it does not show up on the list of updates in Software Updates. Click accept and let it install.
EDIT - it's a patch on the macOS side for communication with idevices.
