Linking two airbooks

I have my old airbook 2015, and my new one, 2020 m1, can I link these? Rather than migrate all of my information over, but rather than having to go from one to the other all the time? May not work. Would like to use the later one as the keyboard / mouse for both. and have an external monitor as well, not sure if this makes a difference?

linking Macbooks with different OS I have an old 2013 Macbook Pro running OS High Sierra (for Quickbook Pro limitations) and am buying a new Macbook Pro running OS Big Sur. I would like to link the two MBs so that I can run Quickbooks on the old Macbook via the new Macbook running OS BigSur. First, is this possible? Second if it is do I need the lightning cable? Finally, if it is possible, can I keep the old Macbook on with the lid closed while doing this?

Can I use side car between two MacBooks? I think I already know the answer to this question but I was wondering if I can take a 2020 MacBook Pro and place it next to a Side Car compatible 2016 MacBook and use Side car between them? I don't really have an interest in iPad at the moment and I am in a position where I have two MacBooks which are better for the type of work I do.
