Hi,

It's because sleeping your MacBook Pro when you lid closed.

Enabling Clamshell mode allows you to close the lid of your MacBook Pro while its connected to an external display, without pitting your MacBook Pro to sleep.

If you want to play music with lid closed, you need following tip.

  1. Click the Apple menu, select "System Preferences," and then choose "Energy Saver."
  2. Set the Computer Sleep and Display Sleep sliders to "Never."
