iPhone 12 Bluetooth drops connectivity

My iPhone 12 drops both my car and my headset bluetooth. It happens while talking on the phone and with listening to podcasts or music. When in the car, it switches to the phone. It is illegal in Virginia to hold a phone while driving. On the headset, it randomly reports out of range and then reconnects. I did not have these issues with my iPhone 8. I've read that it was a software problem. I have the latest update. I have gone to setting, forgotten the devices, and reconnected. I have reset network settings. The issue persists. I saw that others were having this issue, but did not see a fix.
