What is the best way to determine if my TrueDepth Camera is non-functional. I am unable to activate Face ID

What is the error you see on the screen? Does it just say try later, or does it indicate a problem with the camera. You may also see an error that it is disabled. If that is the case, then you would need to have the device examined by Apple. Use the Get Support link at the top of the page here to contact Apple Support and start a service request.
