Can’t update certain apps on my daughter’s ipad!

Can’t update Minecraft and Ibis Paint and even Spotify on my daughter’s ipad. Major headache. I tried chatting with an advisor for an hour he wasn’t able to help with anything and just kept me waiting half the time. We are family sharing, it says there is a payment problem with a family member’s previous purchase, and to ask family organiser to update payment details. There are none. BUT I still put in new credit cards and payment options. My husband’s apps and other daughter’s Minecraft updates are all fine on their phone and ipad. There are no purchase problems in our purchase history lists.

We understand that some of the apps on your daughters iPad can't be updated and we're happy to help! If you can’t download or update apps on your iPhone or iPad try the steps below and check to see if the problem is still there after each one:

Open the App Store app and make sure the Apple ID is signed in: Sign in with your Apple ID
Update apps manually: How to manually update apps on your Apple device
Check payment method:
- Change, add, or remove Apple ID payment methods
- If your payment method is declined in the App Store or iTunes Store
Pause app download and restart it: If you can’t download or update apps on your iPhone or iPad
Restart iPad

If you still have problems updating the apps, then we recommend you Contact Apple Support for further assistance.

my daughter says ALL her worlds in minecraft will disappear. I cannot verify if this is true because i could never understand the game. she’s only 12 but she has dozens of sketches of her houses (detailed archictural looking ones) on her sketchbooks saying these are the houses she builds on minecraft.

We’ve restarted her ipad and even my phone many times loggged in and out of our accounts, hard reset her ipad, updated to latest ios. nothing. some of her apps still autoupdated but not these three.

yes thanks so much for the replies. I think we have no choice but to delete it and download again because it’s been giving me a massive headache trying to figure out. she will live. and I will never get the past two days back.

Try deleting an app such as Spotify. Although it will delete any downloaded music, all the playlists and so on should be linked to her account.

Meanwhile, you or your daughter needs to find out how each of those apps backs up data. Do they allow the data to be backed up in iCloud? Do they have their own backup system? Because, even if you get this issue resolved without deleting anything, at some point, the iPad could be lost, stolen, or damaged.

I already did all of that AND contacted apple support, they couldn’t figure it out and just wasted an hour waitiing for nothing. I guess we will jut delete the apps and start new
