One specific playlist won't sync from Apple Music on Mac to iPhone

One day I was cleaning up my Apple Music playlists on my phone, and I accidentally clicked "remove download" on my favorite playlist. I thought, "No sweat, it's synced through iCloud on my Mac, so I can recover it there". Sure enough, my favorite playlist is still there on my Mac, but it won't sync to my iPhone anymore. This doesn't happen for any other playlist I have. I tried signing out of Apple Music on my iPhone and signing back in, but removing all the downloads and re-downloading them still did not fix the issue. I even tried changing the name of the playlist on my Mac, duplicating it, and adding a few new songs to see if changes to the playlist would trigger a download. No luck. If anyone has advice on where to go from here, it would be appreciated.

Hello, Clarknado.

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you have a single playlist that doesn’t seem to be syncing across devices via your Apple Music library, and it sounds like you’ve done some extensive troubleshooting already. We’d like to see if we can offer to help, and it’s important that we’re on the same page.

  • You had the playlist on your iPhone and you deleted it, but it remains on your Mac. How did you originally acquire the playlist? (e.g. you created it from Apple Music, it already existed from previous purchases on your Mac/iPhone before you joined Apple Music, imported from an Apple Music friend, etc.)

  • Are changes that you make to any other playlists on your Mac syncing across to your iPhone?

Have you had a chance to follow the steps outlined here?

Hello,

I'm having this same issue. Only one particular playlist is not syncing across devices. It's one of my older playlists, but it's just randomly been dumped from syncing across devices. Here's the summary:

  1. It exists on my Mac Mini (primary computer w/ Apple Music songs, iTunes purchased songs, and legacy CD imports circa 2004.
  2. It does NOT exist on the Apple music website.
  3. It does NOT sync to another Mac (MacBook), iPhone 11 pro, or iPad mini.
  4. All "sync library" settings are active on all devices. I've cycled the sync settings on/off and reloaded the library but still no luck.
  5. All other playlists exist across devices.
  6. Changes to all other playlists sync across devices in near real time.
  7. I've duplicated the playlist on the Mac Mini, renamed it, and the dupe won't sync either.
  8. I've cycled power on the iPhone, cycled wifi/cell radios on and off, and rebooted iPhone - all no luck.
  9. All software on all devices is up to date.

Because it's not showing up on the Apple Music website, it seems there's something about that particular playlist where the Mac Mini isn't pushing it to the cloud like everything else.

Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks.
