Swollen watch battery

I recently became aware that my older Apple Watch face fell off due to a swollen battery. The apple genius person told me that all watches can expect to have a limited life due to swollen batteries. Apple apparently extended its warranty to fix these batteries after being sued however i was never notified. They are happy to email me when they have a new product, but do not email when there should be a recall - hoping, I expect, that the warranty period will expire. I am told i need to spend $100 on a new battery - only to have this issue occur in the future?? I am very disappointed with the terrible customer service, and product warranty. For someone who has bought 3 iPads, 1 watch, numerous phones and a MacAir, I am off the Apple wagon.

Who will remedy this problem?

Apple Watch, watchOS 4

Yea, you are right. I found this old article about the swollen watch batteries:

https://9to5mac.com/2017/04/28/apple-watch-expanded-swollen-battery-repair-coverage-warranty/#:~:text=Apple%20has%20extended%20its%20service,it%20provides%20with%20the%20device.

A similar thing happened to my wife's old iPhone. An extended warranty was offered after the power button was determined to be defective and even though Apple has our address they did not notify us. The short of it is that her button failed like the others and she ended up buying a new iPhone. Apparently it is up to us to keep up with extended warranty issues. In contrast I have some electronics that have notified me when they did the same.
