Quicktime Screenrecording and Disk Space / External Disk

Hi,

I know the limit of how long you can make a screen recording with Quicktime depends on your available disk space. Now I only have 20 GB left on my startup disk. But I have an empty 4TB external hard drive. Can I somehow make Quicktime record/buffer to the external hard drive rather than the local disk?

How to record screen with Quick Time in less than 4k resolution? Hello, Whenever I record what goes on my Mac's screen, Quick Time exports a 4k resolution recording. The resulting file is rather large. Is there any way for me to record my screen with Quick Time in less than 4k resolution? I know I can export the recorded and saved 4k video into a lower resolution video with Quick Time's export function, after which I can delete the 4k footage, but is there a way for me to directly record footage in, say, full HD? Space is an issue for more complex projects. Thank you!
