How to transfer full resolution photos from iPhone to Mac?

Air drop of photos from iPhone to Mac only arrive in jpg images with relatively low resolution. Are original iPhotos actually higher resolution and can those be transferred? How?

Either of these will work:


Enable iCloud photos on both devices. Your original images will then upload from your phone and download to your Mac using iCloud. This will also keep your libraries in sync; images added will automatically add to the Mac, and anything deleted will delete across devices.

Set up and use iCloud Photos


Connect your phone to your Mac. Then select the phone in finder and navigate to photos.

Sync content between your Mac and iPhone or iPad
