Using google search on safari (on I phone) causes font to have strange horizontal struck through

Hi all,

please please help me to solve a frustrating issue with my I phone.

When searching on google, horizontal lines suddenly appear through the font of my search entry. When I use the delete key they disappear. Only the google search bar exhibits this behavoiur. Other web pages are fine.

I've searched for potential answers but can’t find anything. Safari also can’t be uninstalled and reinstalled. So not sure how to resolve.
