Apple Watch charger overheating by itself

Hello,

I purchased an extra Apple Watch charger while back, model A1570 but since a couple of days it is no longer working. I can charge my watch using another magnetic cable, so my watch is not the problem.

I have plugged in an usb power meter and I could confirm that the magnetic cable that is giving me trouble is drawing 1A at 5V with no watch placed on it. For comparison, the magnetic cable that does work draws so little power that it does not register on my meter. After a while it seems to be getting too hot then it just stops drawing power and cools down again.

Is there any way to have this fixed?

I would appreciate any assistance!

I doubt that it can be or is worth getting fixed. If it is still under warranty (usually 90 days) Apple will replace it. Otherwise you will have to buy another one.
