When phone audio is sent to Homepod, which microphone is used?

When I answer or make a call on iPhone, then choose to send the audio to HomePod, does the microphone (input) move to HomePod as well, or stay with iPhone, or do both microphones pick up my audio? Just curious.

I’m not sure Use HomePod for phone calls - Apple Support but I think it’s the HomePod
